HOPE – The Hyde Park Organizational Partnership for Empowerment, a grassroots community organization will be gathering to do a “Hyde Park Block Walk & Community Audit”
HOPE will facilitate residents, business owners and other stakeholders to walk through Crenshaw-Hyde Park to collectively evaluate places, issues and opportunities together.
When we meet, after a brief presentation on community issues, resident/stakeholder teams will walk around Hyde Park to identify and discuss problems and opportunities; focusing on the use of land, safety concerns, walkability, open spaces, recreational spaces, local businesses and the quality of our interior streets.
At a later scheduled date, we will assemble together again to examine the data and develop a grassroots consensus. From that consensus, we will create, on paper, a plan of action. This plan will map out how we will solve the problems, seize opportunities, and influence City Hall. With this grassroots plan, we will make Hyde Park a more livable, economically viable and nurturingly sustainable place for our families, children and seniors.
This strategic gathering will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the West Angeles Villa Community Room – 6028 Crenshaw Boulevard. Please RSVP at 323-24-4276 for a continental breakfast and free lunch. Childcare and translation services will be available upon request. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a sweater or jacket for comfort.
